Romeo + Juliet

Parting is such sweet sorrow, Cinespia’s last screening of the summer is not to be missed. Join us for Baz Luhrmann’s vivid 90’s adaptation of Shakespeare’s Romeo and Juliet under open skies. Starring everyone’s ultimate crush Leonardo DiCaprio as the hopeless romantic Romeo and Claire Danes as the celestial young Juliet. The beauty of the Bard and the flash of Baz meld perfectly to retell this timeless tale, faithful to Shakespeare’s words amongst hot rods, gilded pistols and opulent nightclubs. Join us under the stars for one last screening before winter begins, for a story that has inspired lovers for centuries. With DJ Myles Hendrik

BUFFALO 66 – JOHNNY RAMONE TRIBUTE

Under the stars and moonlight on the Fairbanks Lawn, this year’s theme features a screening of one of Johnny’s favorite films, 1998’s cult classic Buffalo ’66, introduced by its eccentric star and director Vincent Gallo, who was Johnny’s very close and personal friend. In addition to the film screening, the 2017 Johnny Ramone Tribute will feature an exhibition of some rare and never-before-seen Ramones memorabilia from Johnny and Tommy Ramone’s collection in the amazing mausoleum with Ramones art by Shepard Fairey, Lucas David and Shag. Billy Idol and Steve Jones will play some amazing acoustic songs. Also, a pop-up gallery from Morrison Hotel Gallery, DJ’d by the incredible Howie Pyro, food trucks and special celebrity guests including Fred Armisen, Mickey Rourke, Rosanna Arquette, and many more.

Room 104 Premiere

From the creators of The Skeleton Twins, Cyrus, Togetherness and Safety Not Guaranteed. The incomparable Jay and Mark Duplass return to HBO with a new half hour anthology series in the tradition of The Twilight Zone and Amazing Stories.

If these walls could talk, Room 104 would be laughing, crying and screaming in fright! An ordinary hotel room has the most extraordinary things happen within. Each episode is a new story of what goes on behind its closed doors. From terrifying to heartwarming these tales will excite, scare and move you in ways no other show has.

A 6 year old boy with a terrifying secret, a couple that relives their first night together 60 years later, a man whose career suddenly depends on his mom’s computer skills, every episode entertains, amuses and thrills. Room 104 captures the grand tradition of omnibus television in a new visionary way that could only come from The Duplass Brothers.

Ghost World

Director Terry Zwigoff and special surprise guests in person!

Quirky high school graduates Enid (Thora Birch) and Rebecca (Scarlett Johansson) answer a personal ad as a joke, but when Seymour (Steve Buscemi) shows up, their lives are changed forever. Enid’s rejection of the trends, music and fashion choices of norm culture is a hilarious and singular commentary on the modern era. Subverting teen cliches, this sardonic character study takes aim at all things mainstream while creating hilariously hyperreal moments of self-discovery.

Born as a cult classic, Ghost World now is nothing less than an anthem. Join us for this special screening under the stars, dress up for our photobooth, picnic with beer and wine and DJ Boss Harmony and cheer as Enid goes against the grain.
