Bruce Conner (November 18, 1933 – July 7, 2008) was an American artist renowned for his work in assemblage, film, drawing, sculpture, painting, collage, and photography. Connor’s film work is wild, beautiful, humorous, sometimes contemplative, and always compelling, he is thought by many to be the father of the modern music video.

Join us as we celebrate Bruce’s life with a collection of short films from the early 60s through the 80s including collaborations with Terry Riley, Brian Eno, David Byrne, Devo, Toni Basil and Jay DeFeo. Rarely screened, the films of Bruce Connor are guaranteed to move and inspire you, don’t miss it! We’ll also have some rarities + outtakes from his archives! BOOGIE NIGHTS

OUR LAST MOVIE OF THE SUMMER SEASON!
PT Anderson’s opus is a mesmerizing, hilarious and terrifying plunge into the porn industry of the San Fernando Valley in the 1970s. Starring Mark Wahlberg in the first starring role that established him as a serious actor. Great performances by Julianne Moore, John C Reilly, Phillip Seymour Hoffman, Heather Graham and Burt Reynolds as the silver fox director. Based loosely on real events in the life of John Holmes and others, Boogie Nights is a wild ride through the funhouse of the disco era, ebullient and shattering.

DJ Cut Chemist spins before and after the screening.

THE TEXAS CHAINSAW MASSACRE

The original Texas Chainsaw Massacre is THE scariest movie ever made. A surreal atmosphere of beautiful 1970’s photography, eerie soundscapes, and the spooky hulks of Texas farmhouses make the unspeakable horror in this film even more haunting. A group of teenagers encounter a psychopath in the countryside of Texas, but who will survive? Directed by the wildly imaginative Tobe Hooper, along with the realistic and terrifying performances of a dedicated cast, this film changed the horror genre forever. See it in the cemetery if you dare! DJ Gaslamp Killer spins before and after the screening and you can scare yourself silly in our themed Chainsaw photobooth.
